PROJECT SUMMARY
This project actualizes a primary goal of the Ancestral Populations Network (APN; PAR-20-026 and PAR-20-
027), namely to facilitate measurement and data analytic harmonization efforts across APN members to enhance
rigor and reproducibility and generate a resource for network members and the scientific community. Through a
consensus process of APN members, measures of anhedonia, cognition, obsessive-compulsive symptoms,
suicidality, and discrimination/stigma were selected for harmonization across ongoing studies. These
harmonized measures will be collected across an estimated 27,500 individuals representing Asian, Latin
American, and African ancestries spanning over 15 countries.
SUMMARY AND CONNECTION BETWEEN THE APN AND THIS SUPPLEMENT
The Ancestral Populations Network (APN) was established by the National Institutes of Mental Health (PAR-20-
026 and PAR-20-027) with overarching goals of (a) accelerating genetic discovery for psychiatric disorders in
cohorts of non-European ancestry, (b) advancing global mental health discovery and equity, and (c) facilitating
measure and data analytic harmonization efforts across members to enhance rigor and reproducibility and
generate a resource for network members and the scientific community. This supplement will implement
validated measures of anhedonia, cognition, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, suicidality, and
discrimination/stigma across ongoing studies within the APN. These harmonized measures will be collected
across an estimated 27,500 individuals representing Asian, Latin American, and African ancestries spanning
over 15 countries.
