项目摘要

We developed a new system for stereotactic radiosurgery with the linear accelerator to treat brain diseases, such as arteriovenous malformations and brain tumors. Our system was designed to utilize preexisting linear accelerator with sufficient accuracy of radiation. This concept was to save financial cost for new installment of the system in the hospitals. Radiation of our system was done in the coronal plane of the patient's head. Multi-arc radiation was possible by moving the patient's head to the flexed or extended position without changing the plane of movement of the linear accelerator. In the conventional system, multi-arc radiation was done by moving the bed in the horizontal direction, while radiation was directed in the sagittal plane of the patient's head. Our system could do without complicated mechanisms to move the bed in the horizontal plane or wide room space for the movement.1) Linear accelerator : Digital Mevatron KD-2-50 with Power Macintosh 9500/120 was used. We confirmed that the shift of the rotation center of the linear accelerator was within 0.4mm. We are going to measure radiation dosage useing collimators in diameter of 10 and 20mm.2) The head frame for stereotactic radiosurgery was newly developed by modifying the MRI compatible head frame for the Sugita stereotactic surgery device.3) The supporting table for the head frame was newly developed.4) The computer software for calculation of the radiation plane will be developed.After the trial using animals, clinical trial is planned for the treatment of metastatic brain tumors.
