Midterm and final examination papers conducted for four English subjects ("English" "English I" "English II" and "English Reading" at three high schools in Korea were collected and the types of items contained in them were analyzed and categorized. The types of items turned out to be quite similar across schools but some differences were revealed across subjects, with more global-comprehension items and fewer word-knowledge items in "English Reading" for third-year students than in the other subjects. The Korean SAT English papers were also analyzed and it was revealed that all of the item types that appeared in the Korean SATs also appeared in the midterm and final examinations. The results are interpreted to indicate strong backwash effect from the high-stakes statewide examinations to teacher-made classroom tests.

收集了韩国三所高中的四个英语科目（“英语”、“英语 I”、“英语 II”和“英语阅读”）的期中和期末试卷，并对其中包含的项目类型进行了分析和分类。各学校的项目非常相似，但不同科目之间也存在一些差异，与其他科目相比，三年级学生的“英语阅读”中全球理解项目较多，单词知识项目较少。论文还进行了分析，发现所有韩国SAT考试中出现的题型也出现在期中和期末考试中。这一结果被解读为，高风险的全州考试对教师课堂考试产生了强烈的反作用。
