Technological changes are transforming supply chains dramatically and rapidly; at the same time, the industry faces volatility and new challenges. This research program aims to provide insights for both new research agenda and increased business performance. The plan in this research framework is to make scientific contributions to the field of operations research by developing models and solution algorithms for the problems arising in real-world applications. Integrated, collaborative, synchronized supply chain problems are already known to be very difficult to solve. Making these problems more realistic and practical will indeed lead to more complexity in terms of the execution time and solution quality. Therefore, in this research framework, problems will be solved using and developing solution algorithms appropriate for these rich applied logistics problems. From the scientific point of view, this research framework contributes to the logistics and supply chain literature by introducing and development of innovative models, methods, tools, and techniques to optimize and plan conflicting decisions of complex modern supply chains. From a practical point of view, it aims to contribute to the training of highly qualified personnel; moreover, the results of this research proposal help improve the efficiency and responsiveness of the Canadian supply chains and companies.
