项目摘要

York Card Technology Inc. o/a YMS is a Markham, Ontario company that develops and manages healthcareinformation technology solutions, including electronic medical records (EMR) management and healthcarebilling software. YMS has been assisting Ontario healthcare professionals and their administrative staff for 25+years. The YMS billing software was built as a desktop application, and has provided consistent services for itsclients, however, there is a need to improve its reliability, security, speed, and create an application that can bemanaged and evolved in a scalable fashion. YMS would like to investigate, test and develop a billing cloudapplication for greater reliability and EMR integration. The Mohawk College mHealth and eHealthDevelopment and Innovation Centre (MEDIC) has performed digital health applied research projects since2007, and has the software, health information, digital health data standards, iterative development, andnetworking experience and expertise to investigate and develop this project. MEDIC is extensively familiarwith meeting rigorous health software standards; and building modern web-based solutions that are reliable andscalable. The project will ensure the YMS billing application is redeveloped with efficient workflows, a securesystem, and a modular framework to enable efficient integration with their EMR and its evolution. In the Best Advice-Advanced and Meaningful Use of EMRs by The College of Family Physicians of Canada,Quality Improvement is highlighted as critical, which this project will support for YMS' EMR offerings, and itsinternal operations. Canada's Economic Strategy Tables report on Health and Biosciences notes the goal toincrease Canada's ranking from ninth of eleven countries in the 2017 Commonwealth Fund ranking ofhealthcare system performance to a top five place by 2025. An important element to increasing the rank isreducing administrative time and costs and improving care delivery. This project will contribute towards thoseefforts by supporting the YMS EMR and improving efficiencies for its healthcare delivery clients
