New Dawn Energy Solutions (NDES) is an energy technology company based in Markham, Ontario,
specializing in providing turnkey solar, storage, EV charging and energy efficiency optimization solutions to
residential, commercial and institutional clients. They believe that energy efficiency and renewable energy can
result in zero net energy consumption from non-renewable sources.
A lack of efficient energy sources for cooking other than wood results in high GHG emissions in many
countries throughout the world. Solar cooking is the simplest, safest, most convenient way to cook food
without consuming fuels or emitting GHGs. It is one of the best clean and environment friendly option for
developing as well as developed countries.
NDES has been trying to develop different solar cooking equipment in response to the many inquires they
receive about large scale solar cooking in tropical areas. Currently, there is solar cooking equipment available,
but they are small and not very user-friendly. Conventional solar cooking stoves are a form of outdoor cooking
and can only be used during the day. It involves standing while cooking, constant adjustment and attendance,
and it is difficult to use in the hilly terrain and windy and rainy conditions.
NDES in partnership with Lambton College, aims to design, simulate and build a prototype for large scale solar
cooking. The proposed project will develop a solar cooking stove that will enable traditional cooking at typical
mealtimes in the indoor kitchen regardless of weather, therefore reducing cooking costs and energy
consumption as well as GHG emissions.
New Dawn Energy Solutions (NDES)
