CMMI currently maintains an active Histology Laboratory that has provided various histologic staining imtnunoassay
procedures as a service for in-house investigators. This Core Facility will be responsible for tissue procurement,
preparation, sectioning, and the performance of immunoenzyme and immunofluorescent assays, microautoradiography,
and specialized histochemical procedures. Examination of stained specimens can be carried out by light microscopy,
fluorescent microscopy or video densitometer. For the purposes of this grant proposal Dr. Gold, (Core Leader) will
review all slides. Additional assistance in the review of stained slides is available from our collaborators in this Program
Project, Drs. Ely and Knowles from NY Hospital (NYC, NY). A majority of the specimens for histology services will
be provided by members of the Program Project, either from experimental animal and cell culture studies or clinical
pathology material to be obtained from Drs. Ely and Knowles of the NY Hospital (NYC, NY). As a yearly average we
expect 1250 specimens a year for histology services.
