I have obtained the following results in the period of this research :1. By the analysis of oral cancer tissues of the patients with or without metastatic lymph node, it was shown that the number of lymph vessels and PCNA positive cells in the lymph vessels of the patients with metastaticlymph node were significantly higher than those in patients without metastaticlymph node ;2. I have already demonstrated that NE-KB only regulates the expression of VEGF-A in the VEGF isoforms. Therefore, the relation between the expression of VEGF-A in tumor tissues and the lymph node metastasis was evident in oral cancer patients ;3. By using the real-time RT-PCR analysis, expression of VEGF-A mRNA showed a high level in 2 of 3 freshly isolated tumor tissues as compared to those in normal mucosal tissues ;4. It has been suggested that the mode of tumor invasion (Y-K classification) was correlated with the number of lymph vessels in tumor tissues.
