Movement skills contribute to the physical education of children as well as through their everyday general lives. Daily movement, of varying intensity, is advocated by theWorld Health Organisation (WHO 2018). Benefits of a musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, neuromuscular, body mass, and those pertinent to this essay, of a psychosocial nature, are cited.When pedagogically embraced, psychosocial benefits can purposefully accompany the development of psychomotor skills. This paper explores ways physical education can increase awareness if not improve emotional wellness in children as they acquire movement-based skills and competencies through an autonomy developing pedagogical approach.
