A polyoxometalate compound (n - C5H10Ph3P)2[Mo6O19] containing quaternary phosphonium cations was synthesized from quaternary phosphonium salt and ammonium molybdate at room temperature, and it was characterized by X - ray single crystal diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and electrochemistry. The hydrogen atoms on the quaternary phosphonium ligand construct a one - dimensional chain structure through the formation of hydrogen bonds with the terminal oxygen atoms of the polyoxometalate anions, and the benzene rings on the adjacent quaternary phosphonium ligands form a three - dimensional layered structure through pi - pi interactions. In addition, the performance of this polyoxometalate compound in photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue was studied.
