项目摘要
The administrative core for the Pacific-Southwest Center for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases
Research comprises the RCE director, an executive associate director, six associate directors, a communications
and informatics support unit, a geospatial support unit, and an administrative analyst. The functions
of the administrative core are day-to-day management of the Center and the following: (1) leadership and
coordination of the emergency response, (2) intra-RCE communications and informatics and geospatial
database management, (3) oversight of biosafety and security of materials, data, and facilities and of
compliance with select agent regulations, (4) facilitating optimum usage of core facilities, (5) financial
management, record keeping, and filing reports, and (6) representation of the RCE at meetings and in interactions
with the National Insitutes of Health, other government agencies, and industry. The director will be
responsible for overall management, coordination, and supervision of the range of Center activities. The
executive associate director will assist in these functions and will specifically focus on compliance and
oversight of biosafety and security. The associate directorships are Basic Research, Clinical Research,
Emergency Readiness & Response, National & International Initiatives, Technology & Product
Development, and Training & Career Development. The associate directors, the informatics support unit,
and the geospatial support unit will provide specialized advice and contributions, in addition to counsel of a
more general nature, to both the administrative core and the Center's research programs and the other core
facilities. Major policy decisions, final judgements of the translational potential and scientific quality of
active and proposed projects, and programmatic changes in the strategic plan will be made by the executive
committee, comprising the director, associate directors, and program and core leaders. Advising the
administrative core and the executive committee with regard to the application of the research will be a
development and translation board.
